Home repair projects
Home repairs are done on a yearly basis, but our peak season is from March – September. We have mission groups visiting our community from multiple states and they are such a blessing. Not only do they make these homes a safe place to live, but the act of showing these families that someone cares can shine a light in a hopeless situation.
Regarding the overall costs of home repairs, about 65% is generously donated by mission groups that travel to our community to help repair homes. ICM pays around 35% of the overall costs to prepare and finish projects, and to deal with emergency situations.
Sample Repairs:
installed running water in kitchens
added bathrooms in homes that did not have one
repaired roofs, walls, floors
added ramps for those that were wheelchair bound
provided insulation to retain heat in the home
repaired electrical problems in unsafe situations
put siding on homes
We’ve helped provide necessary home items such as:
a wood burning stove to provide heat
refrigerators
stoves/oven
sinks, showers, toliets
beds, tables, and some furniture items
